2 Kings has 25 chapters. Read 2 Kings in the New International Version, chapter by chapter, free and without an account.
2 Kings continues the histories of Israel and Judah, beginning with Elijah’s final ministry and Elisha’s succession. Prophetic accounts and successive reigns lead to Assyria’s capture of Samaria and the fall of the northern kingdom. Judah survives longer, but despite reforms under Hezekiah and Josiah, Jerusalem and its temple fall to Babylon. The book ends with the exiled king Jehoiachin receiving improved treatment in Babylon.
In Christian Bibles, 2 Kings is one of the Historical Books of the Old Testament. In the Jewish Tanakh it belongs to the Nevi’im, the Prophets. See it on the shelf.
