Psalm 149
Literal Standard Version
Chapter overview
Psalm 149 celebrates a new communal song, dancing, music, and honor for humble people. Praise stands beside accountable judgment over oppressive power, portrayed as faithful victory rather than uncontrolled personal vengeance.

1Praise YAH! Sing to YHWH a new song, || His praise in an assembly of saints.
2Israel rejoices in his Maker, || Sons of Zion rejoice in their king.
3They praise His Name in a dance, || Sing praise to Him with timbrel and harp.
4For YHWH is pleased with His people, || He beautifies the humble with salvation.
5Saints exult in glory, || They sing aloud on their beds.
6The exaltation of God [is] in their throat, || And a two-edged sword in their hand.
7To do vengeance among nations, || Punishments among the peoples.
8To bind their kings with chains, || And their honored ones with chains of iron,
9To do among them the judgment written, || It [is] an honor for all his saints. Praise YAH!
