Jerusalem rests among encircling mountains as families flourish inside and shadowed rulers approach outside

Psalm 125

Chapter overview
Psalm 125 compares trusting people to immovable Mount Zion and surrounding protection to Jerusalem's mountains. Oppressive rule will not remain forever; integrity is encouraged, crooked paths are rejected, and peace concludes the prayer.

About Psalms: book summary and outline →

1Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, for it is unshakeable and endures forever.
2In the same way that the mountains surround Jerusalem, the Lord surrounds his people, now and forever.
3The wicked will not always rule over the land of the faithful, otherwise the faithful might also end up doing wrong.
4Lord, please do good to those who do good, those who sincerely do what is right.
5But as for those who turn aside to follow their own crooked ways—the Lord will lead them away together with those who do evil. May Israel be at peace!
