Psalm 131

Darby Translation
Chapter overview
Psalm 131 rejects pride, grand ambition, and restless desire for serene dependence. The speaker's inner life becomes like a weaned child resting contentedly with its mother, inviting the community into enduring hope.
HumilityContentmentTrustHope
1Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, and in things too wonderful for me.
2Surely I have restrained and composed my soul, like a weaned child with its mother: my soul within me is as a weaned child.
3Let Israel hope in Jehovah, from henceforth and for evermore.
