Amos
Amos has 9 chapters. Read Amos in the New International Version, chapter by chapter, free and without an account.
Amos announces judgment on surrounding nations before confronting Israel’s own oppression and false security. The book condemns exploitation of the poor, dishonest trade, and worship separated from justice. Visions and a confrontation at Bethel reveal the force of its warning. The final passage looks beyond judgment toward restored communities, fruitful land, and renewed life.
In Christian Bibles, Amos is one of the twelve Minor Prophets of the Old Testament. In the Jewish Tanakh it belongs to the Nevi’im, the Prophets, as part of the Twelve. See it on the shelf.

Amos 4: complacent luxury and empty worship persist through repeated warnings, ending in a summons to meet the Creator.
Amos 5: seek God and establish justice, because festivals and songs cannot conceal oppression from the approaching day of the Lord.
Amos 6: luxurious complacency and false security ignore the nation's ruin and place its elites first in the coming exile.
Amos 7: after mercy in two visions, the plumb line exposes Israel, and Amos defends his calling against the priest Amaziah.
Amos 8: summer fruit signals ripe judgment on dishonest trade, bringing darkness, lament, and a famine of hearing God's word.
Amos 9: inescapable judgment sifts Israel, but David's fallen shelter is restored and the people are planted in fruitful security.
