Nahum
Nahum has 3 chapters. Read Nahum in the Brenton Septuagint Translation, chapter by chapter, free and without an account.
Nahum announces judgment against Nineveh and promises relief from oppression for Judah. Its vivid poetry portrays an apparently powerful city collapsing under attack. The book connects Nineveh’s downfall with its plunder, deception, and cruelty, while describing the Lord as both a refuge for those who trust him and an opponent of destructive power.
In Christian Bibles, Nahum is one of the twelve Minor Prophets of the Old Testament. In the Jewish Tanakh it belongs to the Nevi’im, the Prophets, as part of the Twelve. See it on the shelf.
Nahum 1: divine judgment overwhelms Nineveh, while the Lord remains a good and secure refuge for those who trust him.
Nahum 2: attackers breach Nineveh, river defenses fail, and the wealthy Assyrian lion-city is emptied and plundered.
Nahum 3: violent and deceitful Nineveh is exposed, its defenses and leaders scatter, and its long-inflicted cruelty ends in ruin.
