Find a place of worship

Churches, synagogues and meeting houses that asked to be listed here, each named as it names itself and confirmed with the congregation. Filter by tradition or country, search a town, or sort by distance from where you are. Nothing is ranked and nothing is paid for. Each entry links the congregation's own website and the site's page on its tradition; some also read that page for us.

Thank you. Your request is with a person, who will check the details against your website and write to you at the address you gave before anything is published.

The congregation's name, town and country are needed.

Please choose the tradition the congregation belongs to. "Other" is there if none fits.

The website address should start with https://.

Please give your name, so we know who to write back to.

That email address does not look right. Please check it and try again.

Please confirm that you speak for the congregation.

The spam check did not pass. Please wait a moment for the checkbox below the form to finish, then send again.

That is a lot of requests in a short time. Please try again in an hour.

The request could not be saved just now. Nothing was lost on your side; please try again in a few minutes.

The form is not switched on yet. Please check back soon.

The request could not be sent because the connection dropped. Please check your connection and try again.

Distances appear once you choose "Near me". Your location is used on this page only and is never sent anywhere.

  1. The directory is new. Congregations appear here as they ask to be listed, so it grows week by week. Ask to be listed.

Ask to be listed

For a pastor, priest, rabbi, elder, clerk or office of a congregation. A person reads every request, checks it against your website, and writes to you before anything is published. Listing is free, there is no featured tier, and an entry is changed or removed the moment you ask. It says that these details were confirmed with you on a given date; it does not say that you endorse BibleVerse, and BibleVerse does not rank or review congregations.

About the congregation
The entry links to it, and it is what the details are checked against.
Shown as you write it. Descriptive rather than promotional reads best here.
If so, the entry says so and links the page. How that works.

How the directory works

  • Who is here. Congregations that asked, and congregations that read one of the site's denomination pages and said yes to being named. It is not a census and does not try to be one.
  • Order. Nearest first when you have chosen "Near me"; otherwise by country, region and town. There is no other order and no way to buy a higher one.
  • Your location. Nothing is asked for until you choose "Near me". The browser's own location prompt is used if you allow it; if not, a rough guess from your connection, and the page says which. Neither leaves the page.
  • Corrections. From the congregation, made on sight. From anyone else, checked against the congregation's website first. Send either through the contact page.
  • The data. The published entries are at /places-of-worship.json under CC BY 4.0, so a church-finder or a researcher can use them with attribution.
